Venice Museum Pass 2026: Price, What's Included & Is It Worth It?
Venice has at least four different museum passes. The one most visitors need costs €50, covers 12+ venues, and pays for itself after the Doge's Palace plus two more stops. Here's the full breakdown.
Venice has at least four overlapping museum passes. They share some museums, none covers everything, and visitors routinely buy the wrong one. The pass most people need is the Museum Pass from Fondazione MUVE. Here's whether it's worth your €50.
What the Museum Pass includes
The pass covers 12-14 civic museums run by MUVE. The big ones: Doge's Palace, Museo Correr, Ca' Rezzonico, Ca' Pesaro (modern + oriental art), and the glass museum on Murano. Also included: Palazzo Mocenigo, Casa Goldoni, Storia Naturale, lace museum on Burano, Torcello, Fortuny, and the new MUVEC space opening April 2026.
€50 adult, €25 reduced (ages 6-14, under 25, 65+). Valid 6 months, one entry per museum.
The break-even math
The Doge's Palace doesn't sell individual tickets. It comes in the San Marco package (€35, or €30 booked 30+ days ahead) with Correr, the Archaeological Museum, and Marciana Library.
MUVE also sells thematic mini-packages at €20 each: 18th-Century Venice (Ca' Rezzonico + Mocenigo + Goldoni), Modern Art (Ca' Pesaro + Fortuny + MUVEC), and Islands (glass + lace + Torcello).
The real question: Museum Pass vs. San Marco package plus a mini-package.
San Marco (€35) + one mini-package (€20) = €55. The Museum Pass saves €5 and gives access to everything else. San Marco + two mini-packages = €75. The pass saves €25. If you only want the Doge's Palace and Correr, the San Marco package at €35 is better. The pass pays for itself the moment you add a second cluster.
Where to book
Our take: If you're visiting 3+ Venice museums, buy the €50 Museum Pass at muve.vivaticket.it. If the Doge's Palace is your only stop, skip the pass — book the Doge's Palace skip-the-line ticket on GYG (€30, free cancellation, separate allocations when official shows sold out).
What the pass does NOT include
Venice's most visited museums outside MUVE are independently run: Peggy Guggenheim (€17.50), Gallerie dell'Accademia (€15-20 depending on season), Scuola Grande di San Rocco (~€10), Palazzo Grassi (~€15-18), and Ca' d'Oro (€6). The Accademia and Ca' d'Oro are state museums, free on the first Sunday of each month. MUVE museums don't participate.
Basilica di San Marco is free (timed reservation required). The campanile costs €10-12.
The Chorus Pass for churches
Separate from the Museum Pass. €16 for 18 churches, valid one year. Individual entry is €3, so break-even is 6 churches. Top picks: Basilica dei Frari (Titian's Assumption, Bellini's triptych), Santa Maria dei Miracoli, and San Sebastiano (complete Veronese cycle). If you enjoy church art, it complements the Museum Pass well.
How to buy (and skip the queue)
Buy online at muve.vivaticket.it or at any MUVE museum ticket desk. The smart move: activate it at a smaller museum like Palazzo Mocenigo in the morning, then head to the Doge's Palace with your pass already active. The ticket queue at the Doge's Palace is the longest in Venice. Some museums still require exchanging your online voucher for a physical ticket, but the queue moves fast with a pass.
Frequently asked questions
How much is the Venice Museum Pass in 2026?
The Museum Pass costs €50 for adults and €25 for reduced categories (ages 6-14, students under 25, seniors 65+). It covers 12-14 civic museums including the Doge's Palace, and is valid for 6 months with one entry per museum.
Is the Venice Museum Pass worth it?
Yes, if you visit the Doge's Palace plus at least 2-3 museums outside Piazza San Marco. The Doge's Palace package alone costs €35. Add Ca' Rezzonico or Ca' Pesaro and you've broken even. If you only want the Doge's Palace and Correr, the €35 San Marco package is a better deal.
Does the Venice Museum Pass include the Peggy Guggenheim?
No. The Peggy Guggenheim Collection (€17.50), Gallerie dell'Accademia (€15-20), Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and Palazzo Grassi are all independently operated and not included in any Venice museum pass.
What is the Chorus Pass in Venice?
The Chorus Pass costs €16 and gives access to 18 churches across Venice for one year. Individual church entry is €3, so it pays for itself after 6 churches. Highlights include the Basilica dei Frari (Titian, Bellini) and Santa Maria dei Miracoli.
