Best Tours and Activities in Barcelona Beyond Museums (2026)

Sailing, bike tours, flamenco, Montserrat trips, and kayak sessions. What to do in Barcelona when you've had enough of galleries.

Best Tours and Activities in Barcelona Beyond Museums (2026)

After two or three museum days, Barcelona offers a different kind of experience. The coastline is right there. The old city is flat enough to cycle. The mountains behind the city are close enough for a half-day escape. Here is what is worth your time and money outside the galleries.

On the water

Sailing from Port Olímpic. Shared sunset sails run €35-50 for 1.5 hours, usually including one drink. You sail south along the coast past Barceloneta and the W Hotel. Private charters for groups of up to 8 start at €300-500 for 2-3 hours. Best from May to October. Book a day or two ahead.

Kayaking. Paddle along the Barceloneta coast with a view of the city skyline behind you. Guided sessions run €30-45 for about 2 hours. Some operators include snorkelling. Morning is calmer than afternoon. Best April to October.

Boat tours of the port. Las Golondrinas runs harbour tours from the Columbus monument (€8-15, 40-90 minutes). A budget alternative to sailing. The longer route goes past the container port, which is surprisingly interesting.

On two wheels

Guided bike tours. A 3-hour tour covers the Gothic Quarter, El Born, Barceloneta, Ciutadella Park, and Port Olímpic for €25-35. Several operators run daily in English. A good option for day one to orient yourself before exploring on foot. Most include bike rental and a guide.

E-bike tours. Same routes, less effort, usually €40-55. Worth it if you plan to extend into Montjuïc or the Eixample, which are hillier.

Self-guided cycling. Bike rental shops across the city charge €10-15 for a full day. The seafront promenade from Barceloneta to the Fòrum (6 km, flat) is the easiest route. Cycling through Ciutadella Park and the Born is pleasant if you go early.

Flamenco

Barcelona is not Seville, but the flamenco venues here are professional and accessible. Tablao Cordobés (La Rambla) and Tablao de Carmen (Poble Espanyol) run nightly shows for €35-55 including a drink. Shows last 60-90 minutes. Palau Dalmases in El Born offers a more intimate (and more expensive) setting in a Baroque palace.

If you want something less formal, some bars in Gràcia and Poble Sec host impromptu flamenco nights. Ask at your hotel or check local listings.

Day escapes

Montserrat. The jagged mountain monastery 1 hour from Barcelona. Our day trips guide has the full details. The FGC train + rack railway costs about €22 round-trip. Organised tours run €50-70 including transport and a guide — the Montserrat day trip on GetYourGuide includes optional rack-railway add-ons.

Sitges. A beach town 35 minutes south by train (R2 Sud, about €5 each way). 17 beaches, white streets, seafood restaurants. Go on a weekday to avoid crowds. For organised options, browse Sitges day trips on GetYourGuide.

Penedès wine tours. Cava cellars and vineyards 45 minutes away. See our wine tours guide for details, or browse Penedès tours on GetYourGuide.

Workshops and classes

Cooking classes. Paella workshops, market tours, tapas masterclasses. From €65. Our separate guide compares the best operators.

Pottery and ceramics. Several studios in Gràcia and El Born offer drop-in workshops for €30-50. A quieter afternoon activity.

Photography walks. Guided photo walks through the Gothic Quarter or El Born, typically 2-3 hours for €35-50. Good for solo travellers.
